GAME recap from Monday, November 15 & 16

Monday's home game versus MN Xtreme ended in a 1-1 tie.

MN Mean's Autumn Pace struck first, putting the puck in the net with 3:20 left of the first period while on the powerplay. Xtreme's Leah Christenson had taken an interference penalty at the 5:00 minute mark. Another penalty was taken by Xtreme's Taylor Tvedt at 2:18 of the period, two minutes for hooking. The first and second period of the game was physical, clean, and a true battle back and forth.

At 15:20 of the third period, Leah Christenson took her second penalty of the game for tripping. After a series of plays in both ends, MN Xtreme put up their first tally, a bouncing puck that landed over Mean's goalie Shelby Rasmussen, at 11:16 of the period. Both teams continued to battle, but the score remained tied 1-1 at the end of regulation.

This week is a busy week for MN Mean, having played their second game yesterday against Outer Edge and another skate on Thursday.

Tuesday's game at Outer Edge resulted in a 6-0 victory. MN Mean's Karissa Thomson found the back of the net at 12:39 of the first period off an Outer Edge player's redirection. That was the only tally for either team in the first period.

The second period was MN Mean's for the taking. After Shelby Rasmussen blocked several scary plays in their defensive end, they were able to control the puck offensively and find the back of the net three times. The first goal came from Elle Adams at 13:21 of the period from a wrist shot in the slot. The second goal came off of Morgan Lunder's stick on a juicy rebound backdoor at 7:05. The third goal came at 3:01 from Miranda Mulvihill. Penalties in the second period were taken by Outer Edge at both 11:28 and 0:46 of the period.

The third period's pace slowed down, but  Mean was still able to beat Outer Edge's goaltender twice more. At 13:10, Autumn Pace popped one in. The last goal of the game and her second of the evening came from Morgan Lunders with 0:43 left of the period.

Minnesota Mean's next game is on Thursday, November 18, on Augsburg Rink A at 7:45pm where they will face the Up North Snipers.
