Teresa Mattson impresses with a hat trick, Hot Tamales scores three goals in the first, goes on to prevail

Hot Tamales beat Carleton College 7 - 4 at Northfield on Friday. Hot Tamales outscored Carleton College three to two to take the lead at the end of the first period. Both teams racked up two goals in the second period but Hot Tamales kept the lead for the win. Hot Tamales never looked back. In the final period Hot Tamales scored two consecutive goals improving its score and winning the game.

Displaying a great scoring touch, Teresa Mattson made the hat trick with three goals. Putting their initial points on the board, Mattson put the puck in the net in the first period. Kris Duryea assisted on this goal. During the first period, Mattson netted an unassisted goal. Rolling on, Hot Tamales's Mattson lit the lamp in the third period with an assist from Kari Toensing. Turning in a great performance for Hot Tamales, Jody Riegert got the hat trick with three goals. During the first period, Riegert put the puck in the net with an assist from Sara Warner. During the second period, Riegert scored a second goal without any assistance. This put Hot Tamales out in front for good. Hot Tamales kept up the momentum when Riegert put the biscuit into the net in the third period. Carolyn Reser got the assist on this goal. Lindsay Shea tallied one goal for Hot Tamales.

In the crease, Hot Tamales's Kris Duryea turned away -4 shots. In goal, Carleton College's Charlotte Zimmerman had only -7 saves.

Carleton College ended the game with a record of 1-19.
