Defenses slugged it out, but Breakaways got the better of Hot Flash 1 - zero at STMA Albertville on Saturday. Neither team managed to score in the first period. No one scored in the second period either. Breakaways broke the ice with one goal in the third period to finally win the game.

In the third period, Breakaways's Lori Kretzmann lit the lamp with an assist from Tracy Schleicher, with 11:43 left in the period.

Displaying a golden glove, Breakaways's Susan Hamilton blocked 18 out of 18 shots on goal.

Breakaways ended their streak of six losing games and ended up with a record of 8-12. Hot Flash finished the game with a record of 14-5.
