Badenovs Beaten Easily By Fighting Squirrels 7-1

Kelsey Abrahamson smashes a hat trick and Fighting Squirrels makes forwards' life difficult to win handily on the road, increases streak of wins to 6 games

Winning by a large margin, Fighting Squirrels triumphed over Badenovs 7 - 1 at Highland South on Wednesday. Fighting Squirrels outscored Badenovs four to one to jump in to the lead at the end of the first period. Fighting Squirrels added three straight goals in the second period and held on to its lead. It would prove to be too much for Badenovs. With both teams scoreless in the third period, Fighting Squirrels protected its lead, and was the winner.

Having a huge impact in the game for Fighting Squirrels, Kelsey Abrahamson netted the hat trick with three goals and also had one assist. Paving the way for Fighting Squirrels, Abrahamson put the biscuit into the net in the second period. Kathleen Anderson and Calli Brennan assisted on this goal. Fighting Squirrels kept going when Abrahamson scored an unassisted shorthanded goal in the second period. Abrahamson put the biscuit over the goal line. Kathleen Anderson got the assist on this goal. Fighting Squirrels's Maria Stoa netted two goals for Fighting Squirrels. Making it happen on the ice for Fighting Squirrels, Stoa put the biscuit over the goal line without any assistance in the first period. Fighting Squirrels led for the rest of the game. Steaming onward, Stoa scored a second goal in the first period with assists from Kathleen Anderson and Kelsey Abrahamson. Alexandra Meyer and Calli Brennan each tallied one goal for Fighting Squirrels.

Leading the way for Fighting Squirrels, Melissa Goski blocked 29 out of 30 shots on goal. Badenovs's Amber Logeais had only 33 saves on 40 shots on goal.

Fighting Squirrels continued their current win streak of five games and now has a record of 13-11. Badenovs finished the game with a record of 5-19.
