Calli Brennan is leader with two goals as Fighting Squirrels a defensive stronghold to shut down their opponents, extends winning streak to 5 games

In a shutout game, Fighting Squirrels prevailed against Eagles 5 - 0 at Highland Arena - South Rink on Sunday. Fighting Squirrels scored two straight goals to take the lead in the first period. Fighting Squirrels gained two goals in the second period and held on to its lead. Fighting Squirrels's defense shut down Eagles for the rest of the game. In the final period Fighting Squirrels scored one goal padding its lead and winning the game.

Fighting Squirrels's Calli Brennan scored two goals for Fighting Squirrels. During the first period, Brennan put the puck in the net without assistance. This was the nail in the coffin for Fighting Squirrels. Piercing though the defense, Brennan scored a shorthanded goal in the first period. Kathleen Anderson got the assist on this goal. Kelsey Abrahamson, Megan Boehmer, and Kristina Pilot each tallied one goal for Fighting Squirrels.

Racking up saves in the box, Fighting Squirrels's Melissa Goski had 27 saves. Eagles's Kate Hall had only 34 saves on 39 shots on goal.

Fighting Squirrels added to their current win streak of four games and ended up with a record of 12 wins and 11 losses. Eagles ended the game with a record of 18-7.
