Mystics Comes Up Short Against Renegades 4-2

Heidi Paulson gets the hat trick and Renegades shuts down shooters to prevail

Heidi Paulson scored the game winner with 10:43 left in the second period, as Renegades prevailed against Mystics 4 - 2 at Richfield 2 on Saturday. Renegades and Mystics both scored one goal to end the first period tied. Renegades gained one goal in the second period to break the tie and take the lead. In the final period, Renegades outscored their opponents by one goal and kept the lead to win the game.

In the first period, paving the way for Renegades, Jennifer Lenhart scored a goal with an assist from Missy Boyd, with 8:18 left in the period. Mystics pushed back when Ann Howell netted a goal with 1:54 left in the period. Mary Frey assisted on the goal, to bring things to a tie. In the second period, in response, Renegades's Heidi Paulson scored a goal with an assist from Donna Luttrell, with 10:43 left on the clock, to move ahead 2 to 1. Renegades never looked back. In the third period, pounding the defense, Paulson did it again and scored another goal with 11:21 left on the clock. Carrie Peterson got the assist on the goal, moving further into the lead. Mystics charged back when Mary Mansour got a goal with an assist from jennifer nienaber, with 6:59 left in the period. Returning fire, Renegades's Heidi Paulson netted an empty net goal with an assist from Jess Bowman with 2:35 left on the clock for Renegades, expanding their lead.

Having a huge impact in the game for Renegades, Heidi Paulson got the hat trick with three goals. Jennifer Lenhart tallied one goal for Renegades. Bowman, Peterson, Boyd, and Luttrell each tallied one assist for Renegades.

Ann Howell and Mary Mansour each added one goal for Mystics.

Renegades's Jan Mohrfeld stopped 18 shots. Mystics's michele van vranken stopped 23 shots.

Renegades continued their current win streak of three games and ended the game with a record of 18 wins and 5 losses. Mystics ended the game with a record of 8-10.
