Kathleen Anderson gets a goal as Fighting Squirrels allows few shots to edge out their opponents

Amanda Boehmer scored the game-winning goal with 0:20 left in the second period, as Fighting Squirrels prevailed against Storm 4 - 2 at Augsburg B on Saturday. Fighting Squirrels and Storm both scored one goal to end the first period tied. In the second, Fighting Squirrels outscored their opponents by one goal and took the lead. Storm were not able to answer back. In the final period Fighting Squirrels scored one goal adding to their overall lead and winning the game.

In the first period, Fighting Squirrels's Megan Boehmer put the biscuit over the goal line with 13:45 left in the period. Jocelyn Kleiber and Kayla Clafton assisted on the goal. Charging back, Storm's Meghan Gess got the puck in the goal with 9:56 left in the period. Allison Holbrook got the assist on the goal, to tie up the score at 1 apiece. In the second period, Storm fired up their game when Nicole Van Patten got a goal with 3:43 left on the clock. Meghan Gess assisted on the goal, to pull ahead. In reply, Fighting Squirrels's Kathleen Anderson scored a goal with 2:40 left on the clock. Jocelyn Kleiber got the assist on the goal, bringing the game to a tie. Rolling on, Fighting Squirrels's Amanda Boehmer put the puck between the pipes with assists from Jocelyn Kleiber and Kelsey Abrahamson, with 0:20 left on the clock, to move ahead by 1. This solidified the win for Fighting Squirrels. In the third period, Fighting Squirrels turned up their power play game when Kelsey Abrahamson got the puck in the goal with an assist from Jocelyn Kleiber with 11:16 left on the clock, to get further in the lead.

Kelsey Abrahamson made one goal for Fighting Squirrels and also had one point. Kathleen Anderson, Megan Boehmer, and Amanda Boehmer each contributed one goal for Fighting Squirrels. Jocelyn Kleiber made four points. Clafton tallied one assist for Fighting Squirrels.

Meghan Gess scored one goal for Storm and also had one point. Nicole Van Patten added one goal for Storm.

Showing off a strong glove, Fighting Squirrels's Melissa Goski had 28 saves on 30 shots. Storm's Renee Brasuhn had 13 saves on 17 shots.

Fighting Squirrels continued their current win streak of two games and now has a record of 10 wins and 11 losses. Storm ended the game with a record of 8-9.
