Defenses ruled the day when Cougars prevailed against Mystics 2 - 1 at Augsburg A on Wednesday. Both teams were scoreless in the first period. Both teams scored one goal in the second period and remained tied. The second period closed with both teams at one goal each. Cougars added one goal in the third period to break the tie and take the lead, grabbing a late victory.

Lindsey McCannel and Dolly Ferrara each tallied one goal for Cougars. shea, Weber, and Josephson each added one assist for Cougars.

Abby Eckstein contributed one goal for Mystics.

Racking up saves in the box, Cougars's Sue Olson had 28 saves on 29 shots. Despite having a great day, Mystics's michele van vranken made 26 saves.

Mystics finished the game with a record of 8-9.
