Kellye Nelson on fire with two goals and Badenovs scores game winning goal in the third to squeak by for the win

Corrie Weikle scored the game winner with 4:12 left in the third period, as Badenovs handed a loss to Fighting Squirrels 5 - 4 at Highland Arena - South Rink on Sunday. Fighting Squirrels outscored Badenovs three to two to jump in to the lead at the end of the first period. In the second period, Badenovs outscored their opponents by one goal and tied for the lead. The second period closed with both teams at four goals each. Badenovs added one goal in the third period to break the tie and take the lead, grabbing a late victory.

Badenovs's Kellye Nelson got two goals for Badenovs and also had one helper. Putting a first goal on the board, Nelson Nelson netted a goal. Megan Morinville assisted on this goal. Rolling on, Badenovs's Nelson put the puck between the pipes in the first period. Nicole Gedney assisted on this goal. Badenovs's Corrie Weikle scored two goals for Badenovs. Putting a first goal on the board, Weikle Weikle put the puck between the pipes. Jackie Cameron got the assist on this goal. During the third period, Weikle got a second goal. Kellye Nelson and Jackie Cameron assisted on this goal. This put Badenovs out in front for good. Nicole Gedney added one goal for Badenovs.

Badenovs's Amber Logeais blocked 26 out of 30 shots on goal. Fighting Squirrels's Melissa Goski had only 37 saves on 42 shots on goal.

Badenovs ended the game with a record of 4 wins and 13 losses. Fighting Squirrels ended the game with a record of 7-8.
