Jody Riegert connects for two goals and Hot Tamales strong on the ice to win on the road

Hot Tamales triumphed over Crew 4 - 1 at Highland South on Sunday. Hot Tamales racked up two goals to take the lead in the first period. Neither team scored in the second period so Hot Tamales maintained its lead. In the final period, with defenses wearing down, Hot Tamales outscored their opponents by one goal and kept the lead to win the game.

In the first period, Hot Tamales's Jody Riegert lit the lamp with 15:25 left on the clock. Carolyn Reser and Renne Ekholm assisted on the goal. This was the nail in the coffin for Crew. Pounding the defense, Riegert once again lit the lamp yet again with 7:37 left on the clock, to pull further ahead. In the third period, in response, Crew's Laurel Davis got a goal with 6:42 left in the period. Theresa Lauber got the assist on the goal. Hot Tamales answered back when Shannon Plourde got a goal with an assist from Kari Toensing, with 2:24 left on the clock, adding to their lead. Continuing the roll, Hot Tamales's Chris Bartlett scored an unassisted goal with 0:28 left in the period, pulling further ahead.

Having a good day, Jody Riegert made two goals for Hot Tamales. Chris Bartlett and Shannon Plourde each tallied one goal for Hot Tamales. Ekholm, Toensing, and Reser each contributed one assist for Hot Tamales.

Laurel Davis contributed one goal for Crew.

Hot Tamales's Dawn Whitney had six saves. Crew's Christine Berthiaume turned away 10 shots.

Hot Tamales now has a record of 7-4. Crew finished the game with a record of 5 wins and 6 losses.
